6 Ups & 2 Downs From AEW Rampage (Oct 22)

4. Anna Jay Shines

Anna Jay Britt Baker
AEW

It has been pointed out to this writer that he hasn't been particularly kind to some women's matches on Rampage since the show started. That's fair, 'cause they've all filled a purpose even if they haven't been dynamite (ahem) bell-to-bell. The good news? Anna Jay vs. Britt Baker was.

This was a fine grudge bout.

Jay obviously has a long way to go before she's smashing it as AEW Women's Champion, and she definitely requires some polish, but this was her best match yet. Though some will point towards the presence of Baker as a major reason for the match quality, that's only half the battle. Two to tango, and all that.

As aforementioned, Jericho did everything in his power to talk Anna up and suggest that Rebel and Jamie Hayter being at ringside saved Britt's skin. The run in and title pose from Tay Conti at the end was also a cool way to keep her rivalry with Baker in the minds of fans.

This whole segment was a winner from start to finish.
