6 Ups & 2 Downs From WWE SmackDown (June 12)

Welcome to Jeff Hardy's PEE-p show.

If you like quality, lengthy wrestling matches that favour psychology and don't rush through spots for the sake of it, then SmackDown was the show for you. WWE dedicated a huge chunk of Friday's program to the Intercontinental Title decider between AJ Styles and Daniel Bryan, and it was every bit as good as everyone hoped.

On the flip side, if you like angles that dip into Vince McMahon's keen fascination with toilet humour, then SmackDown had you covered too. Speaking of "covered", poor Sheamus got doused in some bodily fluids and took his frustrations out on a bar of soap backstage. This crummy angle was every bit as vividly contrasting to that aforementioned IC Title humdinger as you'd expect.

Pee is funny and occasional pro wrestling stunners (when he's in the mood) are good - those are the rules in McMahon's universe.

Despite literally p*ssing some storyline credibility away though, WWE did manage to produce a fine episode of SmackDown that motors them nicely into Backlash on Sunday. There was more good than bad, at least, and the company quietly repaired some damage elsewhere...
