6 Ups & 2 Downs From WWE SmackDown (June 19)
1. Palming Off Defeat
One minute, Jeff Hardy was palming off his loss to Sheamus at Backlash. The next, he was spitting with passion and saying he needed to beat the Irishman to prove he can still compete at a top level. Which one is it? Hardy can't have it both ways, and this contradiction cluttered his otherwise fine sit-down interview.
Even Renee Young was confused.
It's often annoying when WWE do this sort of thing. Recently, Braun Strowman brushed off The Miz and John Morrison wrecking his car by saying, 'Meh, I can fix my windshield'. This was more of that. Heels have a hard time getting heat if babyfaces act like their reprehensible actions don't matter.
Jeff looked like he couldn't have cared less than he lost his first pay-per-view match back. This is supposed to be his "redemption", and his "final chance" to make things up to his fans, so he should care. Someone needs to have a talk with talent about storyline logic.
