6 Ups & 4 Downs From AEW Dynamite: Fyter Fest (20 July)
Eddie Kingston bloodies Chris Jericho, Brody King mauls Darby Allin, FTR spit fire.
Last night's episode of AEW Dynamite came with the promise of violence.
With Brody King vs. Darby Allin and Eddie Kingston vs. Chris Jericho as its two most-hyped matches, these two hours were never going to be clean and tidy. King and Allin work different wrestling styles at a similar pace, have intense chemistry, and fight with murderous intent. One excels at throwing people around and the other at being thrown around. Jericho and Kingston, meanwhile, have already bludgeoned each other in all manner of stipulation matches - and their deathmatch's "Barbed Wire Everywhere" stipulation guaranteed claret.
But while the violence absolutely came in spades, Fyter Fest's third quarter wasn't without flaws. Indeed, one of the matches above was let down by those penning the runsheet.
Elsewhere, Athena and Willow Nightingale teamed to face The Baddies in what was originally supposed to be a trios match, while Best Friends finally sought to seek their beef with Wheeler Yuta, who was joined by Jon Moxley. Ricky Starks opened the door for an FTW World Title challenge, Dax Harwood cut the promo of his life, and the Christian Cage/Jurassic Express saga took a turn.
Let's light the fuse...
