4. False Start

Of all the narratives coming out of TakeOver, NXT arguably opted to open the show with one of the least interesting. The opening video package (itself a highlight because, sorry, I don't care how badly overproduced it all is, I absolutely adore Poppy) rightly highlighted Portland's shocking ending with Gargano laying out Ciampa, but neither man was chose to open the show.

While Adam Cole was obviously involved in the equation, whatever direction the Undisptured Era now embark upon is starting cold. Ciampa, Gargano and likewise Tegan Nox and Dakota Kai, all have burning questions that fans will want to hear the answers to. Making a transition out of the TakeOver and into television, it surely had to be one of these four picking up the stick.

While the UE/Dream segment worked for hyping up the evening's main event, the fact that commentary immediately started talking about Gargano again on their way out only highlighted what a weird start to the show this was.
