DOWNS…

3. An Off Knight

WWE Raw LA Knight
WWE

LA Knight usually is pretty reliable on the mic, but he didn’t have his best evening Monday.

The Megastar started talking about King of the Ring before segueing to his favorite topic these days: Roman Reigns and the Bloodline. Knight ranted about how he knew that even if he won the tournament, Roman’s entire Samoan family would run down to interfere to protect the championship. He went after Raw GM Adam Pearce as someone who is playing favorites with Reigns and his cousins.

Knight then turned his attention to Jey Uso, who is in the same KOTR four-way on SmackDown with LA. This brought out Jey for a strange confrontation where Uso tried to run back his theme (he still thinks he’s a babyface?) and then warned LA to stay in his lane before going to leave. Knight egged him on by taking a swipe at Jey’s family, but Jimmy prevented his brother from getting back in the ring.

On its own, this was just an awkward segment. Something did not click. Jey’s ranting complemented his earlier blow-up with Jacob Fatu, but even then this was the weakest part.

LA came off as a bit paranoid and conspiracy-minded, even if everything he said was accurate. The difference between last week and this week was that last week, he was ranting at Pearce, giving him someone to bounce off while yelling. Monday, he was spouting off to a crowd that kept chanting, “OTC!” It didn’t really work, especially since nothing really egregious has happened… yet.

Run this promo back after things start going south and it might resonate better.
