6. Shocking! Authority Figure Abuses Power

Does anyone actually care about the top-level investigation conducted by WWE “upper management” (which you have to read as Vince and Stephanie McMahon) into Sonya Deville and their ultimate decision?

Us neither. The weeks-long investigation ended Monday night when Adam Pearce announced that “upper management” had determined that Deville had recklessly abused her power repeatedly and was terminated as a WWE official.

Can we stop right there? WWE programming has been predicated on heel authority figures abusing their offices for more than 20 years. Mr. McMahon, Stephanie, William Regal, Eric Bischoff, Vickie Guerrero, Shane McMahon… it’s been a steady stream of villainous GMs using their position to benefit themselves.

But now “upper management” has a problem with that behavior? Suddenly it’s a bridge too far? Come on. What a lame story. And does any of it help Deville? There were about 10 better ways to boot Sonya from power, but an internal investigation was probably the lamest… so naturally, WWE took that route.
