6 Ups And 4 Downs From Last Night's WWE NXT (April 30th)

The Road to Takeover starts now.

Last night's NXT marked the first official step on the journey to the next NXT Takeover special. On May 20th, Full Sail University will once again play host to a live two-hour spectacular, and if the strength of the third brand's previous offerings are anything to go by, it's going to be an absolute doozy. William Regal took to the ring and announced that the first official match for the event would be Sami Zayn vs Kevin Owens for the NXT Championship. However, despite not all of the matches being announced, all of the feuds set to be highlighted at Takeover have been brewing for weeks now, to the point of fans being able to predict the card with reasonable accuracy. This is NXT's strength, as all of the matches at Takeover will feel much larger as a result of patient, sensible story building. With the date locked in place, last night's NXT did a valiant job of trying to address every single matchup that will blow off in three weeks. For some, this was a highly successful night. For others... not so much.
