4. The Ultimate Distraction Finish

It’s really, really tough to decide where to rank this one: up or down.

WWE loves to book distraction finishes, so when they pull it for a title switch, it automatically feels like a negative. But they went with a pretty big distraction Monday night, with New Day interrupting the Raw Tag Team Championship title match between the Shield and the Bar. The four men were having their typical solid match, which was rising to a big conclusion when New Day’s music hit.

The trio emerged from the crowd to stoke fears of another siege on the Raw locker room. This drew out the roster, which circled the ring and went after New Day. Suddenly, Sheamus loaded up and hit a Brogue Kick on Seth Rollins to capture the tag titles.

In total, at least a good two or three minutes passed from when the match broke down to when Sheamus ended it. On one hand, it was a creative, more realistic way to do a distraction, as it was easy to get sidetracked. On the other hand, it still was a distraction finish, and a pretty overblown one at that.

Still, it was a cluster of an ending and a disappointing ending to what had been a pretty good tag feud between the Shield and the Bar, so we’ll give it a mild “down.”
