Had he not won, Ricochet’s match with Drew McIntyre would have been a difficult “down” to write: an excellent wrestling match with the wrong outcome.

But the right man won Monday night, with Ricochet picking up a hard-fought, improbable victory in the first round of the King of the Ring tournament. The One and Only kept fighting back against the bigger McIntyre, overcoming a reverse Alabama Slam and a sitout powerbomb to hit a Recoil and a 630 splash for the win.

By winning, Ricochet set himself up for another underdog role in a second-round bout against Samoa Joe. Given fan reaction to Ricochet during the match and after his big win Monday, we could be seeing more of the same next week.
