There was a time in the not-too-distant past that WWE would never have thought about putting a women’s match on first on a PPV. It just would’ve flown.

But Sunday, Mickie James and Becky Lynch led off Elimination Chamber with a solid bout that stayed relatively grounded and still worked really well. James worked over Becky’s arm for much of the match, but both women traded their signature spots, leading up to Mickie’s jumping DDT being countered into a Disarm-Her, which was countered into a rollup, which Lynch countered into a jackknife cover for the three count.

Becky’s victory was more of an escape given that Mickie was on offense much of the match, but that worked pretty well. And James showed she should help elevate the quality of the SmackDown women’s division going forward.
