6 Ups And 9 Downs From WWE Raw (Dec 2)
5. Six-Man Tag Entertains
After a plodding episode of Raw that featured five squash-type matches, anything good in the main event spot was destined to get an “up” here.
Thankfully, The OC and Rey Mysterio, Humberto Carrillo & Ricochet strung together a fairly decent six-man tag match. Carrillo looked better than he had in a while, and Rey seems to have found a niche as the legendary luchador who can still go in the ring, but also is more of a mentor at this stage. AJ Styles, Karl Anderson and Luke Gallows were up to the task as well.
The only knock against the match has to be Ricochet eating the pin, as you have a guy who really could – and probably should – be a champion right now getting pinned in his fourth straight televised contest. Carrillo is right there.
Or if you’re building to a United States Championship rematch, Mysterio getting pinned off an illegal double-team behind the ref’s back would have worked really well – and Rey could bounce back from that just fine.
But overall, this was a nice match to close out a blah show.
