2016 has been an unusual year in professional wrestling, and the resurrection of Brian Kendrick is right up there as one of the stories that has come totally out of left-field. The former Spanky provided us with the most engaging narrative throughout the Cruiserweight Classic when many assumed he was just there to provide veteran name value, and Kendrick has since become the top heel in the fledgling Cruiserweight division.

Kendrick's story has centred on redemption, his desire and desperation for one last shot at glory. He has received this twice now, falling short against Kota Ibushi in the CWC and recently against Cruiserweight Champion TJ Perkins at Clash of Champions.

So where next for Kendrick? Well, tonight on RAW he gets one more shot at Perkins. Either he wins the title and goes forward as a heel champion, or loses and fades back into obscurity and Eva Marie Instagram videos.

That all seems a little boring, doesn't it? Wrestling fans love a little bit of fantasy booking, so why not allow us that freedom here? Brian Kendrick has long been one of wrestling's most underrated talents, and this story that he has cultivated is too interesting to throw to the wayside.

Here are six steps to true redemption for The Brian Kendrick.

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
