7 ECW Wrestlers Who Totally Failed In WCW

The best thing about Extreme Championship Wrestling during the 1990s and until their final days in 2001 was that they always made it a point to create characters for everybody. Paul Heyman, ECW's man in charge, was great at that. The top guys were obviously the most important, but it seemed like everybody had a role. The genius of Heyman was also easy to see as we saw some of these ECW guys jump to World Championship Wrestling and they saw their careers come to a screeching halt. WCW didn't know what to do with them. The reason those guys left was because of money. WCW had lots. ECW had money problem. Those wrestlers had to do what was best for their career, but they did so at the expense of WCW's poor ability to create stars. There are several wrestlers from ECW that had a lot of success with title wins and decent pushes. A guy like Raven probably should have been used better by WCW, but he still had some success as a performer in the upper midcard. What we're looking for are the guys that didn't do much of anything in WCW because they had a tough time fitting in and WCW had no idea how to book them the right way. We're also looking at people that made a name for themselves in ECW, went to WCW for greener pastures because they paid better and then didn't reach the kind of success they did in ECW. A guy like Rob Van Dam was in WCW although that was before he was in ECW, so he wouldn't qualify for something like this. As you read through some of these names you might ask yourself this question: Why did WCW keep bringing in ECW guys, then not do anything to give them any character traits? They just assumed the fans knew who these guys were. It was a critical error on WCW's part. Lazy booking. There's a reason WCW died. They didn't know what to do with all their talent.
