7 Possible WWE Title Matches At WrestleMania 34
2. Batista Vs. Randy Orton
Oh, yes. This could happen. Don’t believe me?
Now sure, when Batista says he has more “unleashing” to do, he could just be talking about his continued pursuits as an actor. However, never doubt Vince McMahon’s ability to write a big enough paycheck to lure back an old star. After all, who in June of 2016 actually expected Bill Goldberg to return, squash Brock Lesnar, and go on a world title run?
So assuming Big Dave does come back, he’d likely be thrust into the main event title picture. But who would his opponent be? That’s right. Ex-Evolution teammate Randall Keith Orton. You may roll your eyes at the suggestion, but consider this: Vince McMahon has wanted to do Batista vs. Randy Orton at WrestleMania for over a decade.
Before Batista had to vacate his first world title in 2005 due to injury, the plan was for him to defend at WrestleMania 22 against Orton. And in 2014, of course, they came close to having this match close out WrestleMania XXX. However, to mollify outraged fans and/or spite CM Punk (depends on who you ask), Daniel Bryan was inserted into the match, making it a triple threat.
So you might think the match is out of the question, but don’t count out Vince’s ridiculous patience for certain things. After all, the current main event set for the show is Roman Reigns vs. Brock Lesnar, a match he wanted to have play out with Reigns going over clean back in 2015. It’ll have been three years later, with Vince still set on crowning Reigns “The Guy.” If that’s the case, WrestleMania 34 might as well be his big proclamation of “Whateva! I do what I want!” It’s the double main event Vince wants: Roman vs. Brock, and Randy vs. Big Biggest Big-Boy Dave.
But what’s the match the fans really want? What’s the match they deserve?
