7 Questions With WWE Artist Rob Schamberger

The master of the canvas.

Rob Schamberger is famous for a whole different kind of wrestling canvas. He's the man who paints WWE wrestlers, and he's made quite the impact in the last couple of years. You'll recognise his distinctive paintings for their colour and style. His work has been featured by the WWE and auctioned on the wwe.com site to raise money for various charitable causes. Rob will be painting a portrait of €œMacho Man€ Randy Savage live at the entrance of WrestleMania Axxess, in addition to launching his first book which will be titled The Immortal Showcase. I had the chance to speak with Rob before he departed to San Jose.

7. What Is The Process And Timescale For Producing Such Visually Stunning Pieces?

It depends on each piece. If it's a smaller ink and watercolor piece, I can do several in a day. Others take a few days. Some can take a month, like the giant 7' x 5' acrylic I started at last year's WrestleMania Axxess. Process-wise, it's important to me that each piece not only looks like the subject, but feels like them. I'll make stylistic decisions for each one to make them stand out and really encapsulate their persona.
