On the flip side, what if President Trump’s appearance provides a jolt to SmackDown’s ratings, and then viewership slides back to Earth in the following weeks?

Will FOX, enticed by the initial numbers, demand more gimmicky ploys to draw ratings? Maybe they’ll want the WWE Hall-of-Famer/POTUS to appear again. Perhaps they’ll demand a weekly guest, whether it’s a WWE legend or HOFer, or a mainstream figure.

But if a Trump-fueled episode sets the bar so high that the roster mainstays can’t come close to matching it, you never know what a network eager to reap value for the show they paid so dearly to air will demand. And that is a scary proposition.

What do you think? Would President Trump appearing on SmackDown be a big mistake for WWE? Or is it a brilliant move to tap their highest profile Hall-of-Famer? Sound off in the comments below.
