7 Short-Lived WWE Shows You Forgot Existed
1. WWF Friday Night's Main Event
If you find yourself browsing through the classic episodes of Monday Night Raw on the WWE Network and can't quite figure out why there are two weeks missing in 1997, that's because (believe it or not), Raw actually took a brief hiatus from TV that year. Yes, it's true!
Due to the USA Network's coverage of the US Open, WWE's flagship could not be broadcast on those specific weeks. Instead of simply moving Raw to another night, they created a new event which aired exclusively on Friday nights instead, appropriately named Friday Night's Main Event.
Unlike other secondary programming at the time, WWE's top stars did appear on it to further the main storylines and the event is probably most notable for being the setting where much of The Undertaker and Shawn Michaels' classic feud developed.
Though it was incredibly short-lived and drew low ratings, it was a unique experiment - and a necessary one given that Raw was off the air for two weeks.
