7 Superstars Whose Gimmicks Started As WWE Fans

4. Test

WWE.comWWE.comIf you make your debut on TV during a main event level match then that means WWE has high hopes for you. It's rare that this sort of thing would happen for somebody we don't know or that wasn't clearly a wrestler, but Test is an exception. During the December 14, 1998 edition of Raw with The Rock taking on Triple H in the main event, an unknown man entered the ring. On commentary, Michael Cole asked: "Who the heck is this?" The big man walked into the ring, grabbed Triple H, gave him a pumphandle powerslam and then The Rock covered Triple H to win the match. The ref was distracted outside the ring by Shawn Michaels and Chyna, so he didn't see it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DR_BhvA9rMo Moments after the attack, the announcers realized that it was the "bodyguard from Motley Crue." About two months before this debut, Motley Crue was on Sunday Night Heat and Test ended up throwing somebody off the stage. He was signed by WWE already, but they acted like he was just a bodyguard instead of a wrestler. He started out as a heel as part of the Corporation. Test always had an impressive physique, but they probably should have come up with a name better than Test. The name comes from being the guy that does the sound check test for the band. It doesn't mean it was a good name, though.
