Ashley Sebera, like all young gymnasts, was no stranger to injury. The wear and tear of gymnastics is often underestimated, as developing frames are put under undue stress in an attempt to find perfection in balance, strength and posture.

Among the injuries Sebera faced were a broken nose and numerous stress fractures in her back, but an injury soon occurred that would end her gymnastics career before it could get off the ground.

Sebera would break both of her ankles, with her right ankle requiring emergency reconstructive surgery. When it comes to body parts and bones the word 'emergency' is never a good thing to see, and needless to say her doctor soon told her that was that when it came to gymnastics.

Ashley Sebera needed a new obsession.

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
