7 Things You Should Know About WWE Royal Rumble 2004

2. The Goldberg/Lesnar Confrontation Was A Really Big Deal

http://youtu.be/zszPf5Ofjds The WWE run of Bill Goldberg wasn't that great. He signed a one year deal that started in April 2003 and he hasn't been back since. He's rarely mentioned by WWE anymore. His only World Title run in WWE was very average. He beat Triple H for the World Title and then lost it back to him within a couple of months. Heading into the 2004 Royal Rumble, there were rumors of a Goldberg/Lesnar match at WrestleMania 20. They didn't have a match prior to that because Lesnar was the top heel on Smackdown while Goldberg was a top face on Raw. Goldberg was the 30th man in the match. His Spear on Nunzio was amazing. He quickly eliminated three guys. His next target was Big Show, who he tried to pick up to hit a Jackhammer slam on. Out of nowhere, Brock Lesnar slid into the ring and nailed Goldberg with a forearm to the back. Lesnar hit Goldberg with a F5 and then left the ring. Goldberg stared at him, said "you're next you son of a bi**h" and then as he stood against the ropes, Kurt Angle walked up behind him and dumped Goldberg over the top to the floor to eliminate him. Two months later, Goldberg had a forgettable WrestleMania 20 match with Lesnar that was infamous because it was the last night for both guys in WWE. Lesnar came back eight years later while Goldberg never did. As a moment in the match, their interaction in the 2004 Rumble was very good and it got people excited about what was going to happen with them.
