5. Losing The WWE Championship Within Hours
Going down in history as having one of the worst World Heavyweight Championship reigns wasn’t enough for WWE.
When Rey Mysterio finally captured his only WWE Championship in 2011, it came as some surprise - many suspected his time would never come again. Whatever satisfaction the victory brought was quickly traded for disgust, however, when shortly after the win, he lost the title in a defence against John Cena on the same episode of RAW.
It was a great day to be 'Big Match John', but a terrible day to be anyone else.
Worse, the entire ordeal was about CM Punk leaving and WWE needing a new champion. This meant Mysterio’s win and loss were both equally pointless and served as a bizarre method of transferring the belt right back over to Cena, even though Punk would return after a one-show hiatus holding the same strap. Sadly, Mysterio would leave WWE without coming close to another major title reign again.
