7 Times John Cena Put WWE Stars Over Huge
A lot of big names have beaten John Cena clean and all of them looked better because of who Cena is.
John Cena is the greatest WWE Champion of all time. At least that's what WWE tells us. The numbers back it up because he's won the WWE & World Titles a combined 15 times, which is more than anybody in the history of the company. Ric Flair's recognized with 16 World Title wins, but those were mostly won outside of WWE. The chances of somebody else topping Cena's number of title wins is going to be difficult especially because there's only one major WWE Title now. He'll probably have another two or three reigns at least before he retires for good. Cena has won so many big matches over the years that any time he loses it's a big deal. Coming off the heels of Sunday's massive loss to Brock Lesnar at SummerSlam, it has got us thinking about the best examples of Cena putting somebody over in a big way. Some of these matches were title matches while others were simply regular matches with major performers. All of these losses are clean. His loss to Rob Van Dam at ECW One Night Stand 2006 really put over RVD in a big way, but that was thanks to Edge interfering. Those kinds of losses are examples of putting a guy over. It just doesn't mean as much as a clean loss. He had an amazing match with Shawn Michaels on Raw in England in 2007 that was fantastic. However, it didn't really need to be done. Michaels was already a big name and having him beat Cena non-title was just a way to put on a great match on television. If this was Cena's best matches ever then it's on this list, but what we're focused on more is how Cena's loss helped the other guy. Here's a look at seven times when John Cena did the right thing by putting over somebody else in a major way.
