7 Ups & 3 Downs From AEW Dynamite (12 Oct)

5. Mean And Thankfully Lean

Shawn Spears

Another routine win for WarJoe over The Factory was more about the post-match angle than the match, which was smart in preserving the understated cool of the TNT and ROH TV Champion's interesting pairing.

The unit has earnestly helped rebuild Wardlow's aura in recent weeks, and linking back up with FTR hasn't hurt him either. Most of it - outside of outliers such as the incredible singles battle with Brian Cage last week - is strictly undercard fare, but some care and attention has at least yielded a few small rewards. This week's was the subtle reunion with babyface returnee Shawn Spears.

Spears was last seen getting destroyed by Wardlow ahead of the Double Or Nothing showdown with MJF. The two men making amends in front of Spears' Canadian fans as the remnants of The Pinnacle were made whole again was a nice detail for the company that once treasured details as the norm. More of that is worth sitting through stuff that otherwise scans as filler.
