7 Ups & 4 Downs From WWE Royal Rumble 2023
3. A Complete Waste Of Time
Eek!
Saturday's Raw Women's Title match is why WWE needs to realise they can peak a feud at the Rumble rather than booking useless short-term challengers for champions on the show. Two-three months is long enough to build something else for 'Mania afterwards, so there's really no excuse for not kicking something off in October/November and blowing it off in January.
Alexa Bliss vs. Bianca Belair was a standard TV-style scrap that did nothing for either woman. Bliss was never a true threat to the champ, and Belair has been standing still for a while now. She badly needs a coming feud vs. Rhea Ripley to work otherwise she'll be staring at a nondescript midcard spot on the biggest card(s) of the year.
Also, the post-match stuff with Alexa is ground WWE has covered before. That's on thin ice with the audience too, because it's a little old hat and Bliss teaming up with Bray Wyatt didn't work a few years back first time.
