Question for anyone seriously plugged into every piece of content WWE churns out online: Are there routine segments detailing the journey of the New Day and their new flunky Grayson Waller? Because the backstage segments Raw is airing are atrocious and say next-to-nothing.
Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods were still dressed in all black, mourning the death of the tag team division since they lost their titles to the Judgment Day. They had reached the bargaining stage of their grief, attempting to bribe Raw GM Adam Pearce with toupees to get him to give them a title match.
Instead, Pearce told them they would have the chance to earn a rematch for the titles next week. And that was that.
At this point, it’s almost depressing whenever New Day is onscreen because it serves as a reminder of the potential from when they turned heel late last year, and how it’s been completely squandered. Even a short, 30-second segment like this is a net negative, as the Raw tag division just rots and WWE wasted one of the biggest heel turns they had in their arsenal. (Considering how they’ve botched John Cena’s heel turn, it seems like WWE’s recent track record with generational face/heel realignments is pretty dismal.)
