3. 'Becky Hogan' Leans In
If you’re Becky Lynch and you’re facing mouth-breathing fans who derisively call you “Becky Hogan,” you might as well go all-in on the gimmick.
Lynch once again on Monday wore red and yellow to the ring, speaking about holding everyone down “but at least I’m honest about it.” Becky’s disconnected-from-reality persona continued as she blasted Lyra Valkyria for being greedy because she held two titles (albeit for barely 24 hours) – “Who needs two titles?” – though what Lynch pulled off at WrestleMania 35 was different because it was groundbreaking.
Becky painted herself into a corner a bit, trying to get Lyra to agree to a stipulation that she would never challenge for the Women’s Intercontinental Championship again if she loses, but Valkyria called her bluff and made their SummerSlam rematch a no-DQ bout.
It will be interesting to see how the women use this stipulation, but Lynch/Valkyria has been really good to great almost the entire way, so there should be a fair amount of confidence that they’ll nail this one.
