6. Dusty Finalists Yuk It Up

While it’s worth grumbling that the finals for the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic easily could have taken place at Worlds Collide, you’ve got to give it up for the ringside promo between the finalists.

Cathy Kelley interviewed Grizzled Young Veterans, who noted that their opponents were great singles wrestlers but had accomplished nothing as a tag team. But Matt Riddle & Pete Dunne weren’t impressed, as Riddle urged them to mellow out.

But it was Dunne who stole the show by pledging to be blunt – which certainly made Riddle perk up. The Bruiserweight then went a step further, telling the Veterans that the Original Bro was going to smoke them (that couldn’t have been coincidental) and promised to walk out with the trophy.

It was a short promo segment, but it set the table nicely for Wednesday’s finals.
