7 Ups And 3 Downs From NXT TakeOver Brooklyn III

1. Failing To Pull The Trigger

Legit question: Who is going to take the NXT Women’s Championship off of Asuka?

It’s understandable that WWE wants to build the Empress of Tomorrow’s record-setting title reign up – she’s now at 504+ days, more than two months longer than CM Punk’s vaunted title reign in 2011-13. But at this point, she’s now run through the entire NXT women’s division, including several women who have since been called up to the main roster.

Saturday was the right time to elevate a new star. It was the right time to “make” Ember Moon and have her end Asuka’s reign and establish herself as a top competitor. Sure, her match with Asuka was really good, but it was a huge mistake to have her come up short again.

Unless WWE has a tremendous prospect in the pipeline who they want to knock off Asuka (Kairi Sane?), this was a wasted opportunity.
