While the ending of the NXT Women’s Championship match was a disappointment and a letdown, the match itself up to that point was everything you could ask for from Asuka and Ember Moon.

The two women had fans buying every near-fall, especially after Moon hit her Eclipse finisher, and then escaped a rollup with tights and hit a superkick. There was a great little moment after Asuka kicked out of the Eclipse and Ember mouthed, “I hate you” while staring her opponent down. The match itself laid on the gas pedal the whole time, barely slowing down except for submission holds.

The match served as a reminder of how talented both women are and the level of quality wrestling WWE can offer if it lets its performers do their thing. Sure, crowning a new champ would have made this a bigger deal, but we can all appreciate a really good match.
