7 Ups And 4 Downs From WWE Raw Christmas Night (Dec 25)
1. Cocky Jordan Tastes Success
2017 closed out with WWE crowning new Raw Tag Team Champions, and it was not the kind of pairing you’d expect… unless you were counting on “wacky” tag partners.
With Dean Ambrose on the shelf, Seth Rollins was forced to team with Jason Jordan, and the duo won tag gold on Raw. The match itself was fine, but hopefully the more interesting part was Jordan bring a little braggadocios about being a good replacement for Ambrose (which Rollins shot down) and running his mouth a bit.
The criticism Booker T and even Kurt Angle have used against Jordan has been that he hasn’t really beaten anyone yet. By having him (and Rollins) defeat the tag champs, it sets the stage for Jordan to develop a serious ego. Success could breed overconfidence, and that could make for an interesting development.
Or maybe WWE is just trying to push Jordan as a mega-babyface and wanted him to have a gold belt. But let’s hope it’s the former.
