Just remind yourself that WWE has an army of writers that think up stuff like this.

On paper, Asuka should have destroyed Carmella in minutes. But that wouldn’t have worked on a PPV, so it went longer, with ‘Mella taking control for a while, even hitting a suicide dive. But Asuka came back and was on the verge of winning her first title on the main roster when a doppelganger appeared on the apron.

Asuka proceeded to completely lose focus on Carmella and stared at the impostor for a full minute, escaping a roll-up attempt and then going right back to staring at the lookalike, turning her back again on the champion, who had just tried to pin her three seconds earlier.

And of course, James Ellsworth unmasked, Carmella hit a kick to the face, and Asuka was the dumbest person in the arena, and a loser.

How many writers thought that one up? To quote Randy Orton: “Stupid! Stupid! Stupid!”
