A staged MMA bout could be a little more interesting. First, lets be clear: it cannot be a real MMA fight. That in itself would be brilliant, but both these men are suspended by the Nevada Athletic Commission, and no state will break that ban. Wanderlei Silva would likely break the ban himself out of country, but Chael Sonnen has said he plans to respect it and is retired. Sonnen generally doesn't need the money that badly either, so why risk the potential fine? A staged bout, something choreographed, wouldn't run afoul of the commission. For all intents and purposes, it would be a pro wrestling bout utilizing MMA moves, the look, even the cage perhaps. MMA fans would cry foul - the hardcore fans would hate this - bout many would tune in anyway, and others might watch to see if Silva could even make it through a scripted bout without actually attacking Sonnen, given he has jumped his adversary in the past.
