7 WWE Women's Feuds That Should Have Been Better

It’s been a tough ride for the women of WWE. From mud matches to pillow fights to being referred to as ‘Divas,’ the chance to shine has been difficult. Despite the booking however, there have been some brilliant women’s feuds. Lita and Trish Stratus set the bar in the Attitude Era. The women of the evolution happening now have shattered glass ceilings. Charlotte Flair and Sasha Banks did the impossible last October when they not only competed inside Hell in a Cell, but main evented a pay-per-view.

The bar is continuously being raised, with the former competing in the first ever women's Money in the Bank ladder match next weekend, and with the Mae Young Women’s Tournament approaching, more talent than ever is being poured into the WWE roster.

However, there have been many misfires. Despite the talented women to step between the ropes, WWE has showcased many failed feuds that fans couldn’t appreciate. The talent wasn't necessarily lacking, but some rivalries simply weren't as good as they should have been.

For every Trish vs. Lita, there's been a Nikki vs. Brie, complete with 'Growing Up Bella' promos even Jerry Springer couldn't get over. WWE may be pushing their female talent now more than ever, but that doesn't guarantee their storylines won't continue to fall flat.

7. Paige Vs. Charlotte

This was ugly.

This feud could have turned the Divas Revolution around. However, a distasteful line from Paige which incorporated the real life tragedy of Reid Flair's death into the storyline left a bad taste in fans mouths. The matches themselves were average, neither woman really showcasing the best of their abilities. Charlotte's heel turn afterwards made her feud with Paige seem pointless, as a heel Paige was proven right and uncomfortably shifted back into being a babyface.

Fans were more interested in former NXT Women's Champion Sasha Banks, regularly interrupting Paige and Charlotte's matches with "We want Sasha!" chants. WWE, surprisingly, didn't listen to them, instead continuing to focus on this lackluster rivalry. Neither woman really showcased enough animosity, considering they were former friends and teammates. The line from Paige regarding Reid Flair's death was an uncomfortable attempt to draw heat. Ric Flair confessed to being unhappy with his son's death being incorporated into the storyline and WWE wisely deleted that line from all of the following promos.

The two former teammates, whose rivalry never really took off in NXT, should have been given more time to slowly develop their feud. It could have really sizzled had that been the case. Instead it felt like a cheap, lazy fill-in until WWE finally capitalised on Charlotte vs. Sasha.
