8 Current WWE Stars Just One Title Win Away From Becoming Grand Slam Champion

WWE has been home to some of the greatest Superstars in the history of pro wrestling. Legends like Hulk Hogan, The Undertaker, Stone Cold Steve Austin, Ric Flair, The Rock, and several others took this organization to the next level, but the majority of the big names have now either retired or become rotating part-timers.

Roman Reigns and Seth Rollins are the new locker room leaders, continuing the legacy of the megastars. While many fans feel that winning the world championship is the highest thing one can achieve in Vince McMahon's enterprise, becoming a Grand Slam champion is, as the name suggests, even grander.

Before 2015, to join the select group of the superior wrestlers, an individual had to capture a world title, a tag team championship, the Intercontinental title, and the European or Hardcore championship. However, the concept changed - a Superstar needs to win the world championship, the premier titles of the tag team division, the Intercontinental belt, and the United States crown to call himself a Grand Slam Champion. Kurt Angle was the first man to achieve this feat, and 13 other male sports entertainers have joined the former RAW General Manager in this club to date.

The Grand Slam clan may grow bigger soon, with the following eight current stars just one title win away from breaking into this group.

Shelton Benjamin joined WWE in 2000 and stayed with the company for ten years before he became a part of the independent circuit. 'The Gold Standard' enjoyed success in the mid-card and the tag team division. He won the Intercontinental Championship thrice while Benjamin even held the United States title once. Teaming up with Charlie Haas, the Orangeburg-born wrestler reached the helm of the tag team division twice.

Although the fans billed him as an in-ring technician, the Creative team never pushed him in the main event scene. The former Ring of Honor employee signed a contract with Vince McMahon's firm once again in 2016. The wrestling community expected his second run to be better.

Unfortunately, the writers did not book him as a credible Superstar as they used him to put the upcoming stars over. The chances that Benjamin captures the Universal Championship on RAW are negligible right now - despite being so close, he may never join the Grand Slam club.
