8 Hidden Meanings Behind AEW All Out Attires

6. Kenny Omega - Sephiroth

Kenny Omega usually styles himself after Sephiroth, the main antagonist of Final Fantasy VII, from his hair colour to distinctive, black coat. This cosplay felt particularly resonant at All Out.

Sephiroth, per the blurb, was a soldier who was "better than the rest" - the 'Best Bout Machine', or the 'Wrestling God', to borrow Omega's phrase from the last episode of 'Being The Elite'. But Sephiroth, "over time", "began to hate everything".

Is a Kenny Omega heel turn imminent?

That is in question - particularly since AEW's character dynamics and arcs are not binary. Cody played heel and face in a superb, layered performance at Double Or Nothing; at All Out, Matt Jackson reverted back to his bratty, transgressive old self by removing Pentagon's mask. Sephiroth was driven to hatred by learning of the awful experiments that made him - might Omega perceive PAC as a costly experiment imposed upon him by his Elite stablemates? PAC defeated him in an incredibly brutal, gripping war - this, after commentary played up his less-than-stellar win/loss record as something of real significance.

It's also possible that Kenny Omega just really, really likes playing video games.
