8 HUGE WWE Day 1 2022 Predictions You Need To Know

7. Drew McIntyre Vs. Madcap Moss

This result here is not as obvious as it might first appear. Or did appear, in fact, when Drew McIntyre easily brushed aside Madcap Moss on the penultimate SmackDown before the pay-per-view.

Were WWE showing the clear disparity between the two in order to deliver a massive upset at Day 1? There's precedence for this.

In 2019 and to tee up a beloved Graveyard Dogs one-off pairing, Shane McMahon gave Roman Reigns his first singles defeat after heroically recovering from leukaemia earlier in the year. The match took place not tucked away on television or at some hidden house show but at June's Super ShowDown in Saudi Arabia. Following massive controversies around a shambolic event the prior November, WWE rolled the dice on resetting people's expectations for how the Saudi-funded supercards would go. To that end, McMahon scored the upset, ensuring that the match mattered and that 'The Big Dog' would eventually seek vengeance.

McIntyre was ringside when it happened. He knows well enough to expect the same here, and revenge will eventually be served ice f*cking cold at the giggling goober's expense. In the meantime though...

Winner - Madcap Moss
