8 MMA Fighters You Didn't Realise Are Still Competing

5. Jon Fitch (32-7-2)

Though widely derided during his time in the UFC by president Dana White for his wrestling-heavy style, few can deny that Jon Fitch has utilised his skills to find great success throughout his career.

Fitch debuted in the UFC in 2005 and marauded through the welterweight division on his way to a title shot, winning eight consecutive fights with his opponents not being able to counter his elite-level wrestling skills.

Unfortunately for Fitch, his moment under the brightest lights at UFC 87 would see him on the receiving end of an anti-wrestling clinic and a battering on the feet from long-standing champion Georges St-Pierre. Despite not winning the UFC title, Fitch continued his career in the organisation successfully before a loss to fellow grappling wizard Damien Maia in 2013 led to his, arguably premature, release.

Fitch hasn't been deterred by his release however and has continued to find success outside of MMA's premier promotion. In 2016, he won the World Series of Fighting Welterweight Championship and defended the belt twice before signing with Bellator in 2018.

Despite having turned 40, Fitch's skills have looked as sharp as ever since signing with Bellator. In his first fight back he frustrated Englishman Paul Daley en route to a lopsided decision victory. Then, in his most recent bout, Fitch faced off with Bellator Welterweight Champion Rory Macdonald in a back-and-forth bout that ended in a draw.
