8 Real Reactions Of WCW Wrestlers Being Punished On Air
1. Scott Censored
Ric Flair had a number of enemies in WCW as it was circling the drain, but few were as volatile as Scott Steiner. So naturally, WCW gave the Michigander a live mic and no instructions, and sent him out to make television gold on the 7 February 2000 episode of Nitro.
He duly obliged.
Big Poppa Pump launched into a scathing rant against the 53 year-old with "more skin folds than a shar-pei puppy", blaming him and his mates for getting Steve Austin fired because he was a "jealous old bastard". Steiner concluded the diatribe by outright stating that "WCW sucks!", which was perfectly fair comment at the time.
He was only echoing what every fan was thinking, but it wasn't very helpful for the ailing company, who slapped Steiner with a suspension at the following Thunder. Furious with the reprimand, the bleached behemoth confronted Flair in a parking lot, who supposedly ran off in tears.
When Steiner eventually returned to WCW TV on the 20 March Nitro, he had another, very clear message - without even opening his lips. In fact, he couldn't; they were sealed shut with tape reading 'CENSORED'. No words were necessary to know what Big Poppa Pump thought of his upbraiding.
