The Bulgarian Brute is the very epitome of wasted potential. Bruising between the ropes but also a capably charming and funny sports entertainer, Rusev should have been a main event player.
Yes, he was a regular fixture on WWE TV but it was baffling that the company never quite knew what they had, even when fans were crying out for it. Rusev Day was an organic success handing WWE a new fan favourite on a plate, so of course they squashed it.
Even before this new cull, Rusev was supposedly wrangling over his contract and has long been touted as a potential AEW recruit.
WWE loved to give “Ru Ru” a half-hearted push only to shunt him back down the card again and again. It would be comical if it wasn’t so sad. His next employers won’t make the same mistake...
