Shawn Michaels debuted his, erm, unique refereeing outfit - a t-shirt advertising his wrestling school and unspeakably tight and scandalously short shorts - before WWE fans as co-official alongside Shane McMahon on the 23 August 1999 episode of Raw, calling an inconclusive double-pinfall between Triple H and Mankind.
He'd profane the eyes of his God by twice more busting out the distressingly skimpy outfit, first in the main event of the inaugural SmackDown when The Game took on The Rock a week later, and once more in a rematch between the pair at 2000's Judgment Day.
Interestingly, Michaels actually had previous in proctoring impropriety; he rocked the indecent short shorts as the improbable guest referee of Hayabusa and Mr. Gannosuke's literal FMW blow-off earlier in 1999. Given the feud involved Gannosuke shoving a firework up Hayabusa's bum, Shawn's sartorial sexiness was pretty tame stuff.
