Though he might be a little rough around the edges, 'Stone Cold' Steve Austin is really the ideal candidate for a special enforcer, when you think about it. He's a no-nonsense character with a strong and clear sense of justice, and one who absolutely isn't afraid to take decisive action when necessary. He also won't fall over from a brisk wind, unlike most refs.
Austin enjoyed three high-profile stints as the designated three-counter at WrestleManias seven years apart. In the first, he was a rare example of a referee more popular than both competitors, not even bothering to change clothes as he sent Brock Lesnar and Goldberg packing.
Most memorably, 'Stone Cold' rocked the sleeveless look as he razed his long-time nemesis Vince McMahon bald after WrestleMania 23's money-spinning Battle of the Billionaires. Afterwards, he shared a bevvy with number 45, creating a visual which hasn't aged brilliantly for The Rattlesnake.
