8 Times WWE Tag Team Partners Fought Each Other

7. Edge Vs. Christian

Incredibly, there were plans to split up our favourite Canadian duo as soon as early 2000.

WWE always felt that Edge had the potential to be a singles star and wanted him to go solo when the talented twosome had barely been given the time to cut their teeth in the big time. Thankfully, WWE held off on splitting the team up and they enjoyed a record-breaking run for another year-and-a-half, capturing the WWE Tag Team Titles many times along the way.

Of course, at some point it was inevitable that they would go their separate ways, and so it came to be in the summer of 2001. Christian had been growing increasingly jealous at his kayfabe brother's accomplishments and snapped, decking him with a chair before blasting him with a vicious one-man con-chair-to, defecting to The Alliance in the process.

Fans had long wanted to see Edge and Christian square off with one another. Unfortunately, their matches were not the fireworks-filled epics that most had assumed they would be. They clashed with the Intercontinental Title on the line in a straight-up wrestling match at Unforgiven, before going at it again, this time in a ladder match, at No Mercy.

Considering their vast experience in ladder matches (yes, even back then) this really should have been better. Their third PPV outing, a cage match at Rebellion, was superior but still not at the level fans expected of them. After that match, the two crossed paths in tag-team matches but wouldn't have another major singles match until they took each other on during an episode of Raw in 2010, which was after they'd already very briefly reformed (they teamed off-and-on in late 2005/early 05).

These two were definitely better suited as partners as opposed to opponents.
