8 Ups & 1 Down From AEW Dynasty (Results & Review)
5. Trios Match Rocks
While shaving two to three minutes from the run-time would have helped, five years deep into AEW's lifespan, it's probably foolish to expect a less is more approach. Adam Copeland, Eddie Kingston and Mark Briscoe Vs. House of Black was still an excellent trios match.
It flowed beautifully. The House of Black are untouchable as the best trios unit in the game. They put so much thought into their layouts, and the result is that they always scan as a formidable, invincible unit working in perfect synergy with one another. As an example, in a blinding sequence, Buddy Matthews sent Briscoe flying off the apron with a crisp pump knee. In one smooth motion, Mark landed on top of Brody King, who smashed him into the barricade with a revolting death valley driver. Then, when the babyfaces made their comeback, they looked awesome as a result.
Really, the House of Black should have reigned with the Trios titles for well over a year. They're such a great team, in the true sense of the word, that anybody gets over when they merely threaten to unsettle them. They'd have been perfect in the gatekeeper role, the making of, for example, Top Flight and Action Andretti - but alas.
Just before the finish, though, the sensation of Movez threatened to become a bit numbing - but just as the attention started to drift, Malakai Black misted Copeland for the win ahead of a presumed TNT title match.
