8 Ups & 1 Down From WWE NXT (Jul 20)

Down...

1. Karrion Krosses The Line, But Can't Banish Raw Memories

A ticked off Samoa Joe kicked off this week's show by understandably demanding a confrontation with the man responsible for choking him out seven days ago. Yet, William Regal had other ideas, stating that he didn't want his enforcer to get physical and that the much spoke about "provocation" at the hands of Kross didn't give him cause to retaliate as the former NXT Champion was acting as a referee and not management in that moment - which mattered for some reason.

Much like those watching on, Joe was having none of it, pacing and waiting for Kross for much of the night backstage for the moment he could settle things with the Bringer of Doomsday in person.

The show-long angle then finally met its end when the current-NXT Champion did make his presence known on the big screen, revealing that he can do whatever the hell he wants (apart from win on his main roster debut) due to holding the top title - including battering the brand's wise old GM. And that was it, really. Joe attempted to get his hands on Kross and failed. That was NXT's answer to having their champ embarrassed on Monday Night Raw 24 hours earlier; have him choke out a defenceless retired veteran.

Kross and the belt's stock took a substantial hit in the wake of Jeff Hardy leaving NXT's top star with No More Words, and this was the brand's chance to rehab both as best they could. They failed on both accounts and it now looks as though, barring a match of the year performance against Joe when the two inevitably meet, their prized possession may be beyond saving.
