8 Ups & 2 Downs From Impact Wrestling Slammiversary 2019

1. Historic Main Event

Although the bulk of fans would have been expecting the World Championship match to main event the pay-per-view, it was instead the intergender clash between Sami Callihan and Tessa Blanchard. When you compare the two matches, it looks as if the booking team made the right call with that one as this was a marvellous way to close out the show.

There wasn't a single moment during the bout where things were under control. Callihan and Blanchard just tore into each other, using the surrounding area to their advantage. Between a powerbomb on the ring apron and a cutter on the ramp, it's safe to say both competitors here were feeling it the next morning.

Later on in the contest, the referee was accidentally taken out after being struck with a back elbow strike from Blanchard, whereas a second referee was disposed of when Callihan took him out following a failed pin attempt after hitting Tessa with his baseball bat. A piledriver soon thereafter spelled the end of the match as the 'Draw' was victorious.

A touching moment of sorts after the match saw Sami hand the gold baseball bat that Tessa came to the ring with back to her, effectively showing respect towards her in the process. Judging by that, it looks like we may be seeing the end of Sami's crusade against the knockouts.

Let's just hope no-one else decides to follow in the footsteps of he and Glenn Gilbertti.
