8 Ups And 4 Downs From NXT TakeOver: Orlando

6. New Titles, New Era(?)

During TakeOver, Tom Phillips made a couple references to NXT entering a new era. It seemed a bit odd, but they did something that might have helped mark the event.

Before each of the three title bouts, William Regal unveiled newly designed championship belts, looking a bit more classic, and – especially in the case of the Women’s Championship – changed the color scheme to match each other. The old straps will be retired in favor of these new titles.

Interestingly enough, however, despite new title belts being rolled out, the champions all successfully defended their titles at TakeOver, so they all left with the same people who walked in with the old straps.

So if this truly is a new era in NXT, it will be interesting to see how they delineate that beyond new hardware.
