8 Ups And 7 Downs From WWE SummerSlam 2017

6. AJ, KO Put Together Solid Bout

Despite the third wheel that was special guest referee Shane McMahon, Kevin Owens and AJ Styles managed to have a pretty good little match for the United States Championship.

Owens played the victim card well throughout the match, but he also dished out the offense nicely, hitting a couple Pop-Up Powerbombs, but failing to get the win due to circumstances – which will only play into his conspiracy theory mentality. AJ hit his signature spots, and in a nice move, followed up his Phenomenal Forearm with a Styles Clash to make sure he had won the match.

With or without Shane’s involvement, this was going to be a good match. How good depended on how much they were able to do and how involved Shane got. It didn’t fire on all cylinders, but it was another good SummerSlam match in a series of them.
