8 Ways WWE SummerSlam 2017 Can Outdo WrestleMania 33
1. The Main Event Looks Infinitely Better
There's nothing worse than a big wrestling show ending on a bum note, and that's exactly what Roman Reigns vs. The Undertaker was. Slow, sloppy, and uncoordinated, WrestleMania 33's main event was an embarrassing last stand for WWE's most iconic character.
While 'Mania was catastrophically bad, SummerSlam's likeliest main event looks awesome. Brock Lesnar will put his Universal Title on the line against Roman Reigns, Samoa Joe, and Braun Strowman, and has promised to leave if he loses. This seems unlikely, but WWE have done a good job building to the bout regardless, with the three challengers taking lumps out of each other on a weekly basis.
The shades of great are the most exciting thing about the story, and there's no clear line between faces and heels. None of the participants are playing a traditional hero or villain's role, and for once, WWE aren't forcing their alignments upon the audience. The crowd have been trusted to cheer and boo for whoever they want, which doesn't sound like a huge deal, but feels oddly refreshing for this company.
Lesnar will likely retain and carry the belt to WrestleMania, where he'll fall to Reigns as originally planned. Speculation on Brock's UFC return does open up the possibility of an upset, however.
