8 Wrestlers Who Couldn't Wait To Ditch Their WWE Gimmicks After Leaving
1. Jon Moxley
Of all the wrestlers to feature on this list, none were as successful in their WWE tenure as Jon Moxley, having served as one of the longest-reigning United States Champions in company history, and winning the WWE World Heavyweight Championship while performing as Dean Ambrose.
Having debuted on the main roster as a member of The Shield, Ambrose would be immediately thrust towards the upper portion of the card and retained his main event status following the group's breakup in 2014.
However, in his five years as a singles competitor in WWE, and often unlike his former Shield partners, Ambrose regularly found himself directionless as an on-screen talent, leading to his highly-publicised departure in April of last year.
After leaving WWE, Ambrose appeared on Talk is Jericho to address some of his grievances over what he saw as the creative missteps that had been taken with his character in the company, and has since reverted to his pre-WWE Jon Moxley gimmick.
